MODERN MOTHERING WITHOUT THE SUGAR COATING
The best thing about mother’s groups is that they provide a sounding board for difference of opinion. The worst thing about mother’s groups is when the sounding board becomes a stone wall and stony silence descends when your opinion differs from everyone else’s. I’m the mum who loves to talk about sex (or the lack of it), money (or the lack of it) and fighting (and the abundance of it). What is the most controversial issue you want to discuss but don’t feel you can? You can certainly feel free here!

TALKBACK
“My daughter is two and a half and many of my friends are planning their second children or already pregnant with another. Secretly, I feel like a new job would feel better than a new baby. My husband and I have found each other again after months of struggle and I can see other advantages to having just one child (the freedom to travel, a certain simplicity, the ability to focus on her)…or simply waiting a more few years and enjoying the balance we have found. The sticky bit is that I am 36 years old. What are other mother’s thinking? Am I alone in my moment of ambivalence and what is the stigma that seems to linger about choosing to be the mother of just one child. Thoughts from both sides of the equation are really welcome at this point.”
